Abstract

1,073,704. Foghorns. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. June 30, 1965 [July 20, 1964], No. 29451/64. Heading G5J. The foghorn shown has a fluid supply to a chamber 19 adjacent the face of a diaphragm 11a contacting the valve seat 4 and a relatively restricted flow to a leaky chamber 9 on the other side. The pressure on the lower side of the diaphragm is less than that on the upper so that the upper pressure is enabled to move the diaphragm away from the valve seat so as to sound the horn while the reduced pressure on the other side acts as a return spring. The leaks are provided through the face of the diaphragm at 11a and through the wall of the lower chamber at 11.
