Abstract

1,115,600. Washing machines. PHILCO - FORD CORPORATION. 16 Dec., 1966 [9 Feb., 1966], No. 56367/66. Heading D1A. A washing machine having two distinct washing zones has means for separately circulating the wash fluids through treatment zones and returning them to the wash zones. The machine comprises a perforated receptacle 15 supporting a second receptacle 30, perforated at 37. Water is supplied from a mixer, to either or both receptacles, via nozzles 47, 50; water entering receptacle 15 via slots 17. Receptacle 30 is filled so that water overflows through perforations 37 into trough 36. During washing, water from the tub 16 is extracted and recirculated via a filter 51 on nozzle 50 and water from receptacle 30 flows into trough 36 via a filter 39 and is returned via a nozzle 53. In a modification additives, e.g. bleaching agents, are introduced to the circulating fluids. During washing clothes in receptacle 30 may be rinsed and the excess water pumped from trough 36 to the overflow 62. During spin drying, after washing and rinsing stages, water is expelled through overflows 62, 46.
