Abstract

111,538. Spencer, J., and Hodges, C. W. Dec. 2, 1916. Multiple-way plug cocks.-Light and heavy fuel either separately or in combination may be fed to the float chamber by a ported plug cock which is provided with a by-pass through which light fuel may be sent direct to the jet while the heavy fuel is being drained from the float chamber. The plug cock F is kept to its seating in the casing E by a spring b. The casing is provided with several branches of which 2 is in connexion with the light fuel supply, 3 with the carburettor jet, 4 with the float chamber, 5 with the heavy fuel supply 7, with the drain tank. The plug has an axial bore 6 and radial boxes, of which there are four in the plane of the branch 4, one in the plane of the branch 7, two in the plane of the branch 5 and two in the plane of the branches 2, 3. In the position shown, the by-pass 8, Fig. 6, connects the branches 2, 3 and the branches 4, 7 are in communication; by turning the plug through a right angle the branches 2 and 4 are in communication; a further turn of a right angle places both the branches 2, 5 in communication with the branch 4, whilst a still further turn places the branches 5, 4 in communication. Thus light fuel is supplied first, then light and heavy fuel, to. gether and finally heavy fuel alone.
