Abstract

1,113,713. Travellers for ring-spinning. H. STEINWANDT [trading as CHR. MANN. MASOHINENFABRIK]. 16 Jan., 1967 [19 Jan., 1966], No. 2178/67. Heading DID. An ear-shaped traveller for ring-spinning has a guide for the thread at its centre formed in the surface 'which bears against the ring when the traveller is in use. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the traveller is of wire and has a central integral loop forming the guide. In Fig. 2, the traveller is e.g. of plastics material and its central part 10a is widened and formed with a groove S open towards the ring, the bottom of the groove is curved to match the path of the yarn where it changes direction. The increased width of the traveller reduces the risk of its being cut through by wear, it also reduces the tendency of the traveller to tilt since the centre of gravity is disposed where the yarn changes direction. The top and bottom of the traveller and the corresponding portions of the ring are shaped as shown in section. In Fig. 3, the traveller is similar to that of Fig. 2, but it has a convex surface to bear against a concave surface of the ring. The ring may be of the self lubricating type.
