Abstract

A pressure sensitive sheet for producing hectographic masters comprises a pressure-transferable layer comprising a solid binder, an aminium salt of formula <FORM:1113689/D1-D2/1> in which y is the total of three similar or different radicals having the structure shown, R and R1 are each a C1-5 alkyl group or a p-dialkylamino-phenol group in which each alkyl group contains 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and X is anion, and preferably a spirit soluble dye. In the Examples the binder used consists of (1) a mixture of ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose, lard oil, oleic acid, and mineral oil and (2) Carnauba wax, raw montan wax, beeswax, lanolin, and mineral oil; the ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose in (1) may be replaced by ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene and/or vinyl acetate/vinyl chloride copolymer. The transfer layer may be coated on a support using heat or a solvent.
