In an overload protective device in jaw crushers in which the eccentricity of the drive is adjustable, during operation, by means of a lever arm 2 mounted on one end of the eccentric shaft, the lever arm is connected to the piston rod 13 of a double-acting piston and cylinder device 3 rotatably mounted on the rotatable driving disc I about an axis 14 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the piston and cylinder device, the latter device having associated therewith either a compression spring means 4, Figs. 1 and 2, which engages the lever arm and is pivotally mounted on the driving disc which adjusts the maximum transmissible crushing pressure, or a spring-loaded pneumatic cylinder 10, Fig. 4, linked to the lever arm and connected to a control lever 11 in which case the maximum crushing pressure is adjustable by means of the piston and cylinder device and a reversing valve 12 is fitted on the outer edge of the driving disc. The piston and cylinder device is supplied with compressed air from a reservoir (8. Figs. 3 and 6) via a pressure reducing valve (6) and a manually-operated control valve (5) in series in a compressed air line.
