Abstract

1,113,065. Traversing yarns onto packages. KLINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. 10 May, 1965 [11 May, 1964], No. 19522/64. Heading D1J. A yarn guide spaced from a rotating package and having a constant amplitude of traverse, has its traverse speed varied such that the take up point on the package lays to a variable extent with respect to the yarn delivery point on the yarn guide. The resulting winding has a variable traverse length and is stated to reduce or eliminate end build up on the package. The rate of reciprocation of the yarn guide may be varied continuously, intermittently or spasmodically. The variation may be of the same magnitude or of different magnitude at each occurrence of the variation. In Fig. 1 a steel band 2 passes over end pulleys 3, 4. Along its upper span the band 2 carries a plurality of yarn guides 1 for traversing yarn onto a plurality of packages 13. On its lower span the steel band carries a follower 7 engaging a slot 9 on the periphery of a cylindrical cam 10 to cause the band 2 to oscillate. The cam 10 is driven by an electric motor 18 via a variable speed gear box 17. Alternatively the motor 18 may be of variable speed by any known means, such as variable resistances, on oscillator controlled build-up and let down circuit, or cam controlled switching circuit having different resistive values.
