Abstract

A bottle washing composition comprises (a) an alkali metal hydroxide (b) a boroheptonic complex. The composition may be in the form of a solution containing from 1/2 to 2 1/2 % by weight of caustic soda, or may be a solid composition comprising 80 to 95 parts by weight of flake caustic soda and 20 to 5 parts by weight of sodium boroheptonate.ALSO:A boroheptonic complex believed to have the formula <FORM:1112773/C2/1> is prepared by reacting boric acid or a borate with heptonic acid or its salts.
