Abstract

The invention relates to a lincomycin N-alkysulphamate of formula <FORM:1046332/C2/1> wherein R1 is alkyl and R2 is hydrogen or alkyl, the alkyl groups containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms, e.g. lincomycin n-hexylsulphamate and lincomycin n-octadecylsulphamate. The salts are obtained by reacting (a) lincomycin base with a mono- or di-alkylsulphamic acid in which the alkyl groups contain 1 to 24 carbon atoms or (b) an acid salt of lincomycin with an alkali metal salt of said mono- or di-alkylsulphamic acid. The lincomycin N-alkylsulphmates are less bitter than lincomycin salts generally, are stable and have a delayed release property and are particularly suitable for oral administration, e.g. as a syrup, tablet or capsule.
