Heading H2A. In a motor in which axial movement of conical rotor 2 releases brake 6, the hub of the brake disc is provided with an internallythreaded sleeve S passing through end cover 8 and receiving threaded body 12 lockable by bolts 13 and serving to enable the axial position of the rotor relative to the brake disc to be adjusted without dismantling the machine. The casing is explosion-proof, being cooled by fan 11 on the body 12, and having a narrow axial vent E around the hub S. The brake may be manually disengaged by axial pressure on the threaded body 12.
