Abstract

1,110,478. Endless conveyers. DR. KARL HAHN KOMM. GES. 20 July, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 32541/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Division A5] Tampons, each comprising a section 1 of cotton material to which is sewn a withdrawal tape (2), are formed in a machine which separates the sections from a rhythmically moved length of the material using knife blades 4, 11, then moves each section using a pair of tongs 5, 40 to a guide path between two pairs of moving belts 56, 57 and then as each section passes a sewing device 7 sews to it a withdrawal tape (2) which is subsequently severed from a reel (101) of the tape with a synchronously moved knife (8). The section of material with its attached length of tape is then ejected from between the wheels 63, 78 and after being inverted by a moving tipping member (9) and an air jet (148) is provided for pressing to the required shape in a suitable known machine. The moving belts 56, 57 run on rollers 58-63, 78-82, of which the wheels 60, 61 are mounted on a member 67 able to be moved up and down by a control rod 72 to grip each tampon section, the control rod 72 and also the knife blade 4, the tongs 5, 40, the synchronously moved knife (8) and the tipping member (9) all being driven via cams and pulleys from a motor 27.
