Abstract
1,110,180. Road traffic signalling apparatus. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 30 Sept., 1965 [1 July, 1964], No. 27119/64. Heading G4Q. [Also in Division H2] A direction indicator system for a tractortrailer vehicle comprises a relay 44 connected to the tractor battery and relays 42, 43 connected to earth through the respective flasher lamps 33-36 on the tractor via a plug and socket 10, 20. Current through the relays cause contacts 46, 47 in series with the trailer flasher lamps to open but contacts 48 do not close. When the tractor flasher switch is operated plug contacts 22, 23 or 22, 25 are shunted by the flasher contacts closing hence relay 42 or 43 is released energizing the appropriate trailer flasher lamp. Contacts 48 energize a pilot lamp 38 on the vehicle. Another relay 45 with contact 49 controlling stop lamps 54, 55 operates in parallel with the tractor stop lamps 39, 40.
