Abstract

1,108,581. Bottling. SOURCE PERRIER S.A. 11 May, 1965 [13 May, 1964; 23 Sept., 1964], No. 19916/65. Heading B8T. -A counter-pressure bottle filling head having a counter-pressure gas inlet valve, not shown, at the top of a hollow rod 8 of a liquid valve 10, includes a closure member 15 slidable about the rod 8 and, in the non-filling position, urged against a seat 23 by the attraction of permanent magnets 43 and 44 attached to the closure member and a fixed support 45 respectively. After supplying gas to the bottle via the hollow rod and apertures in a depending tube, not shown, the liquid valve is raised from its seat 24 by a spring, and the member 15 is forced downwardly by the liquid pressure to permit liquid to flow to the bottle. When the liquid reaches the level of the apertures in the depending tube, the gas pressure within the bottle and the attraction of the permanent magnets causes the member 15 to return to its seat and closes the liquid passage, thereby preventing the back flow of gas from the bottle. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown), the closure member 50 is downstream of the liquid valve 10 and comprises an annular permanent magnet which is urged towards a seating 53 on the valve rod by a permanent magnet 55 on the liquid valve head.
