Abstract

1,049,118. Bottling. GRAHAM ENOCK MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. April 9, 1965 [April 14, 1964], No. 15490/64. Heading B8T. A liquid filler valve, e.g. for milk, which is opened by raising a container, e.g. a bottle, to a filling position, has a valve member 4 forming a valve seat 16 for a part 15 of a rubber cup 14 secured to the outlet end of a tube 3 depending from a liquid bowl 7, and closes when the container is lowered. The valve member is supported within the tube by vanes 5, and the flow area of liquid through the tube at its outlet is greater than that at its inlet, to obviate frothing, by a liquid flow restrictor plate 2 provided with circumferentially spaced flow passages 10. The valve member has an axial vent passage extending therethrough. In a modification the liquid passages through the tube taper from a relatively small crosssection at the inlet end to a relatively large cross-section at the, outlet.
