Abstract

1302127 Container filling device A-T-O Inc 2 Feb 1970 4886/70 Heading B8T In a counterpressure filling device in which the liquid is given a component of centrifugal motion so that it flows down the inner surface of the container, a gas supply tube 70 slidably located in an apertured sleeve 24 mounted in a beverage reservoir 12 has a liquid valve assembly 32 comprising a helically vaned conical member 68, the lower end of which has a resilient closure member 76 seated on the frustoconical wall (94), Fig. 6 (not shown), of a ferromagnetic check valve member 34. This conical wall sits on a valve seat 38. When gas valve 116 is opened to apply counter pressure to the container 22 via the supply tube 70 and a vent tube 80, the bottle pressure acting on the bottom surface of closure member 76 together with the force exerted by a spring 84 causes the member 76 to rise, the check valve member 34 following this movement as it is attracted upwardly by magnets 110. Liquid flowing through the sleeve 24 and round the vanes impinges on the check valve member to force it downwardly, and flows in a spiral path down the sides of the container 22, whilst counterpressure gas flows back through the vent tube 80 and supply tube 70. Gas flow ceases when vent tube aperture (82), Fig. 4 (not shown), is covered, this stopping liquid flow so that check valve 34 is again urged upwardly against closure member 76 to form a liquid and gas tight seal. A snift valve (50) is provided. Constrictions below the vanes increase the velocity of liquid flow.
