Abstract

1,270,285. Dispensing liquid by gaseous pressure. REYNOLDS METALS CO. June 3, 1969 [June 10, 1968], No. 27998/69. Heading F1R. A pressurized liquid dispensing container 20 for carbonated beverages includes an enclosing wall 33 defining a chamber 36 having a tapered end section 34 and an opening 41 providing easy access to the interior of the chamber; an aperture 56 in the tapered section 34 receiving a pressure regulator 60 which places the chamber 36 in communication with a gas pressurizing source 54 when the pressure within said chamber is below a predetermined level; and a spigot assembly 30 sealingly fastened in the opening 41 for dispensing the liquid from the chamber. The spigot assembly 30 is fastened to the annular portion 40 in a fluid tight manner provided by seal 88 and when the lever 62 is pulled the liquid in the container 36 is forced through the siphon tube 63 and through the dispensing opening 64. The regulator 60 is screwed into the aperture 56 and an O-ring seal 72 provides a fluid tight seal between the two chambers 54, 36. The capsule 78 is hermetically sealed and contains a fluid under a predetermined pressure so that a depression in the fluidpressure in chamber 36 will cause the fluid in capsule 78 to expand thus moving projection 77 against stem 76 to open valve 75. A cup shaped resilient member 81 serves as a one-way check valve. A self sealing plug 110 is provided for filling the chamber 54.
