Abstract

1311512 Dispensing measured quantities of liquid LABLABO S ARL 1 April 1970 [4 April 1969 14 Jan 1970] 15492/70 Heading B8N [Also in Division F1] A valve which closes under the sole action of pressure within a container 40 comprises a valve member 6 which is slidable in a body 4 and has projections 16, 17 which engage slots 34, 35 in a sheath 37, to limit movement of the member. The valve may have a measuring chamber 9 containing a flexible diaphragm 8 which when the valve is opened by hand pressure, stretches under the pressure of liquid rising through bores 23, 31, 32, 24, 12 so that the liquid fills the chamber. When pressure is removed the valve automatically closes and liquid is discharged by contraction of the diaphragm through bores 20, 21 and a pipe 25. When the liquid contains a dissolved gas the diaphragm is omitted, Fig. 6 (not shown), as the gas pressure in the chamber is sufficient to discharge the liquid. A projection (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), engages an opening in a cap 42 to ensure alignment of the bores 20, 21.
