Abstract
1,108,186. Thermocouple mountings. BRISTOL SIDDELEY ENGINES Ltd. 15 Sept., 1965 [2 Oct., 1964], No. 40272/64. Heading H1K. ' An. apparatus for sensing the mean temperature of fluid flowing through a duct consists of a member arranged to form a detachable circumferentially complete longitudinal section of the duct wall and including an annular chamber containing the leads to a series of thermocouples mounted in tubular housings which project radially from the chamber into the fluid stream. In one arrangement, Fig. 3, the annular member 17 is bolted into the external wall of a duct as shown and its chamber filled with heat insulating powder before being sealed by welding ring 18 to flanges 17A. Alternatively (Fig. 1, not shown) the annular member forms part of the conical inner wall of an annular exhaust duct with the thermocouple probes extending outwards into the annular duct. .
