Abstract

1,107,473. Gas blast switches. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 15 July, 1966 [28 July, 1965], No. 31813/66. Heading H1N. In a gas blast circuit breaker such as is described in Specification 1,071,905 an insulating blast nozzle 48 is provided with a metal ring 60 adjacent to its throat portion so as to minimize progressive breakdown over the walls of the nozzle 48 due to restriking after the nozzle 48 separates from the fixed contact 44. A second ring 61 may be employed so as to lock a portion of the insulating material between the two rings to prevent ring 60 falling out. The nozzle 48 may be of polytetrafluoroethylene (P.T.F.E.).
