Abstract

An alloy steel having improved creep properties contains in percentage by weight .C.0.05 - 0.6 .Cr.0.5 - 3 .Mo.0.3 - 1.75 .V.0.15 - 1 .Mn.0.2 - 1.5 .Al.0.018- 0.2 .Ti.0.04 - 0.2 .Fe.balance The steel may be austenitized at such a temperature e.g. above 1800 DEG F. that all carbides are dissolved, cooled to transform the austenite to bainite, and finally tempered at 1150 DEG - 1400 DEG F. to precipitate vanadium carbide.
