Abstract

1,104,357. Master cylinder; piston rings. ALFRED TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM. GES. 15 July, 1966 [4 Dec., 1965], No. 31905/66. Headings F2F and F2T. A master-cylinder has a sealing ring 3 disposed between the piston 1 and the pressure chamber of the master-cylinder, the ring being rotated by the swirl of liquid passing through vacuum breaking bores 2 in the piston during the return stroke of the piston. The bores are skewed relatively to the axis of the piston to provide the swirl, and skewed grooves 4 may be provided in the sealing ring. The arms of a star-shaped washer 5 between the sealing ring and the piston may be inclined to the piston end to enhance the effect.
