Abstract

1,103,498. Bobbins; transfer tails. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 12 Oct., 1966 [29 Oct., 1965], No. 45888/65. Heading B8M. A bobbin carrying a main body of yarn 17 and a transfer tail 21, axially offset from the main body along the bobbin, has its transfer tail secured to the bobbin surface by means of a tab or strip 7 of flexible material adhering directly to the bobbin surface over at least its mid-portion, the edge of the strip which leads during rotation of the bobbin in the winding machine being free from adhesive and overlying a part of at least one of the turns of yarn in the transfer tail, whereby the yarn is embedded in the adhesive. The tab or strip preferably also has its trailing end free from adhesive to form a gripping edge when stripping the tab from the bobbin. The tab or strip is placed on the bobbin prior to winding of the yarn, the yarn becoming embedded in the adhesive as the wound bobbin is doffed.
