Abstract
1,101,823. Waveguide seals; travelling-wave tubes. SIEMENS A.G. 26 May, 1965 [27 May 1964], No. 22316/65. Headings H1D and HlW. A waveguide seal, for e.g. a travelling-wave tube, is arranged between two fins or fingers extending diametrally from the waveguide wall. As shown, the seal 11 is arranged between a finger 12, which contacts and supports the seal, and a fin 8 which forms the beam collector of a travelling wave tube. The end of the finger 12 is merged with the central conductor 14 of an output coaxial line. In modifications (Figs. 1, 4, not shown), the seal is (a) arranged between two fins resembling the fin 8, (b) arranged between two successive fingers of an interdigitated delay line. The spacing of the two fingers is such that the section containing the seal matches the rest of the delay line. The member 8 or the fins 10 may form a collector. The apertures 9 may be progressively reduced in diameter towards the end of the structure.
