Abstract
The delay line for a travelling wave or crossed field tube has a metallic cylinder(1) containing coaxial metallic rings(2) or stubs which are supported by conductor elements(5, 6). The latter are inclined at an angle(alpha) to the transverse plane of the delay line, allowing a small diameter line to be formed. The conductor elements are typically bars, with the rings(2) cooperating with projections(3) on the inner cylinder wall for capacitance assemblies, or the conductor elements may be frusto-conical discs with coupling holes, the stubs being spaced to form capacitance gaps.
