Abstract

1,101,490. Pistons. M. AGOSTINONE. 7 March, 1966 [10 April, 1965], No. 9806/66. Heading F2T. In a light alloy piston, the piston ring seats are reinforced with thin plates 1 of steel or the like wear-resistant material which are embedded during casting and are provided with plinths 2 for distributing the load and enlargements 3, 4 for receiving piston-ring grooves 8. The plates 1 are radially embedded in the piston. Projections 5 anchor the plates while projections 6 help to distribute the load.
