[Also in Division D1] An anchorage for prestressing wires comprises a triangular-sectioned cast-iron wedge 1 with grooves 7 along each edge, together with a cast-iron block 2a, precompressed by an undersize steel ring 2b, which has been heated, and placed around the block, and cooled. A welded steel plate 11 transmits the load to the concrete. The longitudinal wedge surfaces arc slightly convex, as are the corresponding inner surfaces 9 of the block, in a longitudinal direction, and there is a small overall convergence between the wedge and the block.
