Abstract

1,101,173. Baffles; air-heating stoves. KONINKLIJKE FABRIEKEN DIEPENBROCK & REIGERS N.V. 12 Feb., 1965 [12 Feb., 1964], No. 6242/65. Heading F4W and F4S. In the air-heating stove described in Specification 1,101,172, in which combustion gases from a burner 18 are delivered via a flow duct 7 to a down-flow chamber having an outlet 21 for the gases leading to a flue 20, a hemispherical cowl 22 is disposed around the outlet 21 and is extended downwardly in the form of baffles 24, 25. In use, the burner gases pass around the lower edges of the baffles in order to reach the outlet 21. Further apertures 28, 29 are provided at the lower end of chamber 19 below the baffles and the outlet 21; whereby if the flue becomes blocked by a bird's nest or other obstruction the burner gases pass out to the room space via the opening 28 after being mixed with excess air which has entered the chamber 19 through the opening 29, or through an opening (not shown) provided in the wall 5 of the dust 12 conveying heated air to the room. A constriction in the flue is provided by the size of the opening 21 which is smaller than the flue pipe 20 whereby the effects of downdraught are reduced. If an increased downdraught does occur, the excess pressure is dissipated via openings 28, 29 and these openings also permit the inflo of air under increased draught conditions.
