Abstract

1,099,183. Oscillating vane actuators. HOUDAILLE INDUSTRIES Inc. April 1, 1965, No. 13897/65. Heading F1F. An oscillatory vane hydraulic actuator having one or more vanes mounted on a wing shaft and means for hydraulically effecting oscillatory movement of the wing shaft includes a cup-shaped housing 12, Fig. 3, closed at its open end by a cover 13 and formed integral at its other end with an end face portion 14 through which the wing shaft 5 protrudes for connection to the equipment to be actuated. The end face portion 14 is formed with mounting lugs 17 for connection to a rigid support 20. The cover 13 which is attached to the housing by screws 30 and dowel pins (not shown) is formed with a locating flange 29 which coacts with a rabbet on the housing. The invention eliminates relative movement of housing parts on sudden reversal of movement of the wing shaft 5. Dowels 38 extending through the fixed abutment 8 into sockets 39, 40 in the cover 13 and end face portion 14 respectively, retain the abutment against displacement and supplement the screws 30 in retaining the cover 13 against torsional displacement.
