Abstract

1,078,990. Oscillating vane hydraulic actuators. H.J. SHAFER. June 23, 1966 [July 1, 1965], No.28055/66. Heading F1F. An oscillating vane hydraulic actuator used as a valve operator, comprising vanes 27A, 27B, Fig. 1, formed integral with or fixed to a rotor hub 17 which oscillate between abutments 26A, 26B secured by bolts 30 to a cylindrical casing 11 includes adjustable stop members 33, one on either side of each abutment, to terminate movement of the vanes precisely in fully valve closed and fully valve open positions. Each stop 33 comprises a shank 34 passing through the casing 11 formed at its inner end with a shoulder locked against a plane face 41 on the casing by a tapered bush 43 and nut 44 and a spiral conical cam 36 which on release of the nut may be adjusted to any position. It is stated that the locking of the stops against the plane faces 41 prevents them being loosened by the repeated application of the vanes thereagainst.
