Abstract

1,096,517. Beam axle suspensions. VAN DOORNE'S AUTOMOBIELFABRIEK N.V. April 28, 1966 [May 17, 1965], No. 18649/66. Heading B7D. A vehicle suspension comprises an axle 6 supported at each end by a yoke 5 which is connected to the vehicle frame 1 at one end by an air spring 7 and at the other end through a transverse leaf spring 2 which is secured to the frame 1 at the middle and slidably connected to the frame at its ends by guides (4) (Fig. 1, not shown). Each yoke 5 is preferably secured to the leaf spring 2 midway between a central bracket (3) and a guide (4) and the guides incorporate eccentrically mounted adjusting elements (8) to allow for wear. The spring 2 absorbs braking and driving torque on the yokes 5 and acts as an anti-roll stabilizer. A shock absorber 7a also interconnects each yoke 5 and the frame 1.
