[Also in Divisions B4, B6 and F2] In a tube making machine, a device for grinding the edges of paper blanks 100 comprises a motor 61 with a standing shaft 62 and a rotatable cylindrical part on which is secured an emery belt 63, and a lever 65, on a pivot 64, which carries a roller 66 in contact with a cam 67 keyed to the mainshaft of the tube making machine, and a pressing plate 68 between which and the motor 61 a blank is disposed. The lever 65 is lifted by the cam 67 and the plate presses the blank on to the surface of the belt 63 whereby excess paper is ground away and a ground edge having the same profile as the gap between the motor and the plate is produced.
