[Also in Divisions B6 and H5] A dielectric embossing or sealing press for automobile trim material 22, e.g. a sandwich of a backing sheet, a P.V.C. facing sheet, and an intermediate filler, comprises an upper electrode 12 connected to a H.F. oscillator 10, a lower earthed electrode 14 including a platen 17, a loading tray 18 and embossing or scaling dies 20, and inductors 24 connected between the electrodes and located between the dies and remote from the edges of the electrodes so as to lower the voltage in their vicinity and thus reduce voltage variations produced by the standing wave in electrode 12, thereby achieving more uniform heating. Each inductor 24 comprises a silver coated stainless steel coil spring bolted (at 26, Fig. 2) to electrode 14 and provided with a silver button (28, Fig. 2) releasably contacting electrode 12. Electrode 14 is mounted on a fluid motor 16 so as to be vertically movable to disengage button (28) from electrode 12. The two turns at each end of coil 24 are of reduced diameter for the escape of the magnetic field, thereby reducing inductive heating.
