A vessel's stabilization system comprises first and second oil-tight transverse bulkheads 12 extending vertically between two decks and defining with the vessel an elongated, enclosed container, at least one longitudinal bulkhead 14 extending through the container, the portion of said bulkhead within the container having openings 20, 22 therein larger than the distance between the longitudinal stiffeners on the bulkhead, and liquid partially filling the container to a level above the lowest limit of said openings whereby a portion of the liquid transfers through the openings in response to the roll of the vessel, and the said longitudinal bulkhead having additional openings 24 near the top thereof to enable an unimpeded passage of air therethrough.
