Abstract
1,093,008. Gear-hobbing. JOS. KOEPFER & SÍHNE G.m.b.H. July 23, 1965 [Dec. 15, 1964], No. 31549/65. Heading B3K. A hobbing machine comprises means driven from the hob drive I, II, 3 for displacing the hob spindle axially by amounts determined by two stops 15, 10b, one of which is fixed. One of two electrically-controlled clutches can be energized when a gear has been hobbed to transmit a drive from the drive 3 and a bevel gear 4 to a shaft 8 and gears 9, 10. A further clutch 13 is also engaged to cause a screw 13b to move a sleeve 16 axially, the sleeve being connected to the hob spindle. The gear 10 is limited in its rotation by the fixed stop 10b and a stop 15 on a worm-wheel 18 adjusted angularly by a graduated knob 19. During hobbing, the sleeve 16 is locked by a spring 21 acting through a lever 20 and a split clamp 16a. When a certain number of shifts has been counted, the hob is moved in the opposite direction.
