Abstract
961,530. Gear-cutting. M. PFAUTER, W. PFAUTER, G. PFAUTER, and H. PFAUTER. May 1, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 17234/63. Headings B3K and B3L. A machine comprises means for simultaneously hobbing and shaping gears 2, 3 on a single workpiece. The shaping cutter is reciprocated by a crank 14, is relieved by a spring 33 and is moved to cutting position by a cam 30 and a lever 31 which are adjusted to give a tapered form to the gear 3 (the lever 31 may be omitted). The cutter saddle is fed by a screw 25, the drive being released by a coupling 27. (Alternatively, the cutter-saddle is fed against a stop 28 which may cause disengagement of a worm-drive 29 or actuate a valve to stop a fluid feed). Differential gearing is provided if helical gears are to be hobbed. One motor 8 drives the whole machine. The hob may be fed axially.
