Abstract

1,091,410. Coin freed vending machines. STOCONTROL SERVICE Ltd. May 18, 1966, No. 22197/66. Heading G4V. A coin is guided down a channel at the rear of the machine into a slot 5 in a sliding drawer 3 which supports a stack of articles. Movement of the drawer moves the coin to pivot a spring-biased pawl 23 out of engagement with a rack 22 on the underside of the drawer whereby an article can be retrieved from the recess 6 in the drawer, the rest of the stack being supported on the raised rear part 10 of the drawer. To prevent jamming of the mechanism if a second coin is inadvertently fed to the machine before the first coin has been cleared, the second coin initially rests on the edge of the first coin and is held by the coin guide so that as the drawer is opened the second coin drops on to a surface 39 which guides it on to prongs 40 which are spring biased so that they move under the coin guide as the drawer is withdrawn. Closure of the drawer retracts the prongs by engaging a projection 45 and allows the second coin to drop into the slot 5.
