Abstract

1,090,949. Caps for bottles &c. E WORTMAN, H RISTAU, G. WERTH and G. KLEINSORGE, [trading as VEREINIGTE ALUMINIUMFABRIKEN RISTAU, PIEPER & CO]. April 14, 1965 [April 15, 1964; Sept. 25, 1964; Nov. 14, 1964; Dec. 12, 1964], No. 15921/65. Heading B8T. A slip-on cap (3), Fig. 1 (not shown), for a spray container &c., has a resilient seating rim (4), provided on its inner surface (4a), Fig. 2 (not shown), with a continuous series of partcylindrical &c. projections (5), the seating surface (4a) having a cross-section in the form of a polygon. The rim (4) may taper slightly towards a weakening groove (11), Fig. 3 (not shown), joining the rim to a sleeve (10) of the cap (3), so that the projections (5) have a partconioal shape. This construction of the rim (4) enables it to deform and snap over the rim (2), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a container (1). In a second embodiment, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the cap (3) has a concentric inner tube (14) with a frusto-conically shaped rim (7<SP>1</SP>) on its lower edge. A polygon of flat faces (5<SP>1</SP>) is formed on the outer surface of the rim (7<SP>1</SP>) which snaps into a dished recess (13) of the container (1) thereby forming a protective cover for the container spray valve (12). In a modification, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), axial slots (15) are formed in, and extend to the rim of, the tube (14).
