Abstract

In a pneumatic conveying apparatus in which inducing fluid passes through an annular throat 26 to induce fluid-flow through nozzle 23, flow restricting apertures 16 are provided to give substantial equalization of the pressure of air flowing along the outer surface of nozzle 23. Inducing fluid passes via connection 17 into pressure chamber 13 and thence via apertures 16 into nozzle chamber 14. Moisture is admitted to the mixed induced and inducing fluid via apertures 27 thereby causing agglomeration of entrained dust particles to assist subsequent separation. In modifications apertures 16 are replaced by an annular gap (16) Fig. 3 (not shown) or holes (16) Fig. 4 (not shown) or a pair of discs (15) Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown) are superimposed and arranged for relative rotation to vary the aperture. The radial width of throat 26 is from 1% to 2À5% of diameter D1. The ratio D1/D2 is from 1:1-25 to 1:1À55 and D3 is approximately equal to D2.
