Abstract

108,904. O'Neal, R. Aug. 29, 1916, Sunken ships and obiects, raising and moving.-Sunken ships and objects are raised by a pontoon adapted to be rotated by varying the mass thereof at predetermined parts of the periphery. The pontoon 10 carries drums 12 for the lifting-cables 13 and has one or more central compartments 11 and annular series of pockets 14. By forcing water into some of the pockets 14, and from other pockets, the pontoon is rotated to lift the object A. The pontoon is submerged or raised by forcing water or air into the compartments 11. The cables 13 are guided and controlled by members 21 connected to rings which surround the drums 12 and are adjusted by levers 19.
