Abstract

1367200 Protecting underwater equipment OCEANEERING INTERNATIONAL INC 2 June 1972 [2 Nov 1971] 25971/72 Heading E1H A cover for protecting underwater equipment, e.g. from fouling by anchors, comprises a dome 15, e.g. of glass-reinforced plastics, secured to the underwater surface by anchors 21. The dome has a lower frusto-conical portion 15a and an upper part-spherical portion 15b. An access hatch 29 in the top of the dome has a central aperture for escape of gas from the dome. As shown, the dome is mounted on a pipeline 11 with which it is aligned by plates 16, the dome being jetted into position below the surface 12 of the mud beneath the water. Anchors 21 are supported by reinforced portions 20, Fig. 4 (not shown), of a base flange 19. The dome may be a single moulding or in two or more portions joined at flanges 18. Members 31 supporting hatch 29 are used for raising and lowering the dome. The hatch is secured by plates 33.
