1,088,479. Domes. ENGINEERED BUILDINGS Ltd. March 25, 1966 [March 26, 1965], No. 13207/66. Headings E1A and E1J. A wooden dome comprises laminated horizontal ring beams 23 spaced apart by meridional stiffening ribs 24, and covered with plywood segments 25 and tiles 91 (Fig. 1, not shown). The dome, which may be used, e.g., as a silo, is supported on a laminated ring beam 29a, resting on posts 29, and surrounded by a laminated band 37 (Fig. 5, not shown) of pressure treated boards. A rooflight 28 may be fixed to spaced blocks 51 (Fig. 8, not shown) spiked to the uppermost beam 23g and comprises prefabricated sections connected together by upper and lower domed centre plates 58 and 59 bolted together. A sliding door 30 may be provided, comprising curved segments 61 (Fig. 6, not shown) reinforced by ribs 62 and running on a hanger 31 (Fig 7) comprising a split tube 67 mounted on a spring-loaded shaft. 69, and carrying spaced pairs of wheels 75 to run on a tubular shaft 76 mounted via brackets 77 above the ring 23c The dome is erected in annular sections each with an upper ring beam 23, and with the segments 25 projecting downwardly beyond, the .ribs, 24.
