Abstract

1,088,161. Window stays; door, &c. holders; latches. CROMPTON NETTLEFOLD STENMAN Ltd. March 16, 1965 [March 31, 1964], No. 13242/64. Headings and E2F. .A window catch. comprises a slotted latch plate 1 pivoted at 2 to the window frame 3, a slot 5 being engaged by a spring loaded bolt 6 on the window 4 for limited opening thereof. The slot tapers towards the end 12 and the bolt has a neck portion 13 of lesser diameter than the head 14 so that the bolt may be withdrawn from the slot by means of the thumb plate 7, to facilitate unlimited moyement of the window, only when the window is closed. The bolt and slot are re-engaged by closing the window, the catch piece 9 on the latch 1 depressing the bolt for this purpose. When the window is detached, plate 1 assumes the vertical position under gravity or the influence of a spring, and the window may be rotated through 180‹ for catch 16 to engage a catch (15), Fig. 1 (not shown), at the base of the window frame, thus facilitating cleaning of the outer surface of the window.
