Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1086426/C2/1> wherein R represents a C1- 3 alkyl group, each of R1 and R11 represents a straight- or branched-chain C1- 4 alkyl group or such an alkyl group interrupted by an oxygen atom, or R1 and R11 are linked together to form an alicyclic ring, R111 represents a saturated or unsaturated C1- 6 hydrocarbon radical and n is 0 or 1, and their preparation by (a) condensing 4-chloro-3-sulphamoyl - benzene - sulphochloride of the formula <FORM:1086426/C2/2> with an amine of the formula <FORM:1086426/C2/3> or (b) by treating a sulphochloride of the formula <FORM:1086426/C2/4> with ammonia or with reagents which liberate ammonia, e.g. ammonium salts, or (c) by condensing a sulphonamide of the formula <FORM:1086426/C2/5> wherein X represents a reactive ester radical, with an alcohol of the formula HO-R111 in the presence of an acid binding agent. Amines of the Formula III are prepared by reducing the corresponding acid amides with lithium aluminium hydride, the amides themselves being prepared by forming alkyl esters of the corresponding acids and reacting these esters with appropriate amines. a -Methoxy-isobutyric acid is prepared by hydrolysis of tert.-2,2,2-trichlorobutanol with a solution of potassium hydroxide in methanol/water. 1 - Ethoxy - cyclopentane - carboxylic acid and a -ethoxy-a -methyl-butyric acid are similarly prepared. Ethyl 3-methyl-3-ethoxy-butyrate is prepared by the addition of ethanol to b ,b -dimethyl-acrylic acid.
