Abstract

The invention comprises: (a) compounds of the general formula <FORM:0889033/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 and R2 each represent a C1-4 alkyl group, and R3 represents an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group; (b) the preparation of of compounds (a) by reaction of an N-alkylpiperidyl-4-hydrazine of the general formula <FORM:0889033/IV (b)/2> with a cyanoacetic acid ester of the general formula <FORM:0889033/IV (b)/3> wherein R4 represents a C1-4 alkyl group; (c) th combination of process (b) with the hydrolysis of the imino compounds to the corresponding 3 : 5-dioxopyrazolidines. Some of the imino compounds possess pharmacodynamic properties in addition to their usefulness as intermediates. Specification 843,694 also is referred to.
