Turning.-A vertical turret for lathes is angularly adjustable as at c on its base slide c and is held on its seating in a counterbored recess j by a clamping rod q prevented from turning by a flat and screw s. On unclamping, a spring m advances the turret to disengage the locating pin from the index hole p. When it is desired to remove the turret, to exchange it, for example, for the circular turret shown in Fig. 7, the short pin o is replaced by a pin long enough to engage a hole n. On unclamping, the rod can then be pushed endways to dislodge the C-washer w from its recess in the turret so that it may be removed from the neck u, The long pin is next withdrawn and the turret removed bodily. The tool holes are arranged as shown in Figs. 2 and 4 so that long tools may be used without interference, the tool in operation being that on the top edge of the turret.
