Abstract

1,085,662. Control of D.C. motors. KERR MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 28, 1965 [July 30, 1964], No. 3858/65. Heading H2J. [Also in Division A5] Dental apparatus including a D.C. motor the electrical supply 202 to which is controlled by a foot-operated switch, may be driven by a 115 v. A.C. mains supply 184 through a circuit which includes a transformer 236, full wave rectifier bridge 244, Zener diode 252 and potentiometer 262, the foot-switch being connected to the wiper arm 260 of the potentiometer so that movement of the switch changes the bias on transistors 254, 258 and the output supplied to the connection 202 to the motor. The circuit also includes a motor reversing switch 190, an A.C. take-off point 188, and solenoids 266, 270 operating valves in the dental apparatus. Alternative circuits are illustrated in Figs. 19- 24 (not shown); one employs a thyristor (Fig. 23) and another (Fig. 24) a " diode alternating current threshold device."
