Abstract

The power regulator, for a motor, has a triac (5) or similar semiconductor switch between the motor windings and the supply. The triac control circuit contains a first part (A) with an LC timing circuit and a second part (B). The second part modifies the timing circuit time constant to alter the triac conduction angle. The unmodified time constant is equal to the smallest (or largest conductive angle. The modifying circuit contains a full wave rectifier with the triac across its input diagonal and a RC circuit across its output diagonal.
