Abstract

1502855 Touch reponsive switching arrangements INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 March 1975 [11 March 1974] 9354/75 Heading GIN [Also in Divisions H2 and H3] An electronic apparatus is supplied from the mains and includes an on-off power switching arrangement, wherein an electronic switching device is inserted between at least one pole of the mains supply and the apparatus a control arrangement is provided for applying switching potential or current to the switching device, and a manual control element for controlling the control arrangement which element is coupled to a pole of the mains supply through at least a high resistance element. In the embodiment shown, a thyristor Tl, T2 is inserted between each pole 1, 2 of the mains supply and the apparatus 5. Amplifiers V1, V2 act as switching control arrangements and are controlled by a touch-activated switch 51 connected to the pole 1 of the mains via shock preventing resistor R1. When the contacts of the switch S 1 are bridged by a finger, the resulting current is amplified at V1 or V2 to turn the thyristors T1, T2. Hold circuits are disclosed as well as a turn-off arrangements. A photo-electric control coupling is also described, see Fig. 11 (not shown).
