Abstract

1,146,561. Transistor switching circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 17 Feb., 1967, No. 7631/67. Heading H3T. A switching circuit for supply current to a load at a voltage determined by a reference voltage comprises a transistor switch T having its collector connected to one terminal of a source of reference voltage RP and its emitter connected to one output terminal P, its base connected through a switching device S1 to a source of higher voltage than the reference voltage and a constant current device CC connected between the higher voltage and the output terminal through the switching device S2. As described, the voltage drop across the transistor is very small because most of the output current is supplied from the constant current source and because the base current is such that it flows to the collector. In Fig. 2, TC is the constant current device and TF performs the function of S1 and S2 under the control of TI.
