Abstract
1,085,427. Coffee making machines. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Sept. 5, 1966 [Sept. 8, 1965], No. 39591/66. Heading A4D. A coffee making machine comprises a cold-water container 4 arranged beside a coffee filter 1 and provided with a lower supply pipe 10 which communicates through a heating device (not shown) in a flat base 18 and with an outlet pipe 11 opening at 12 above the filter. The coffee drained from the filter is collected in a vessel 2, which may be in the form of a jug with a handle, placed on a supporting plate 7. The lower supply pipe 10 extends approximately horizontally through a non- return valve 9 beneath the surface of the supporting plate and then upwards to the coffee filter through pipes 8 and 6. The container 4 and the pipe 6 are enclosed in an envelope 5 extending laterally at 19 and having a cover 20. The filter 1 contains ground coffee 13 covered by a plate 14 provided with an ascending pipe 15 through which steam can escape. A cap 17 is provided above pipe 15 to prevent water from the outlet 12 flowing into the pipe.
